The Courier App
Terms & Conditions

At TheCourier.app, we pride ourselves on offering flexible, permanent contracts for self-employed freelance couriers. We work on your behalf with customers, ensuring you have access to the best opportunities available. Our goal is to support both couriers and customers by fostering a fair and transparent environment. Please note that as a self-employed freelancer, you are responsible for managing your own jobs, vehicles, insurance, health and safety, and compliance. We are here to provide support where we can. Please read through these Terms and Conditions carefully before applying for any job.

1. Job Acceptance

. By selecting a job, you commit to fulfilling the duties on the specified date and time as an independent contractor.
. You are required to complete the job to the best of your ability, as outlined in the job details.

2. What is a Permanent Job?

. A permanent job means that once you apply for and are assigned a job on a permanent basis, it will be your round until you provide two weeks' notice that you no longer wish to continue or unless a finish date is stated for the job.

. You have the flexibility to select the days you want to work. For example, if you apply for a permanent job for Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, this will be your regular round every week until you notify us that you want to stop or the finish date has been reached. Once the job has been assigned to you, your scheduled calendar will show these days.

3. What is Ad-Hoc?

. An Ad-Hoc job is a single job on a specific day. It’s a one-time job you apply for, rather than a recurring commitment. You are contracted for that particular job only and are not required to work on the same days regularly.

4. Ad-Hoc Job Application

. By applying for Ad-Hoc jobs, you are agreeing to be contracted for that specific job on that particular day only.

. As a freelance courier, it is your responsibility to ensure the completion of the job as agreed.

5. Job Availability and Flexibility

. As a freelancer, you have the flexibility to choose and apply for jobs that suit your schedule and availability.

. Cover for Jobs: If you are unable to fulfill a job due to holidays, emergencies, or other reasons, you can repost the job to the community.

. This should be done with sufficient notice, allowing other couriers to accept the job, providing you with flexibility while ensuring job continuity.

6. Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policy Commitment to Agreed Work:

. When assigned a permanent route, you are contracted to cover the agreed work on your scheduled days.
. You are responsible for ensuring the completion of your scheduled shifts unless you provide notice and arrange cover as outlined below.

Permanent Routes:
. A 28-day notice period is required if you no longer wish to fulfil your contracted days.
. Failure to provide the required notice may result in loss of earnings and contract termination.

Ad-Hoc Jobs:
. If you are unable to attend, we will attempt to find cover, but if no cover is found, you remain responsible for the job.
. Failure to provide sufficient notice will result in the job being marked as unfulfilled, which may affect your ability to accept future jobs.

Failed Service and Financial Penalties:
. You are responsible for fulfilling your scheduled work. If you fail to attend without prior notice (Failed Service), you will be liable for any financial penalties resulting from the missed job.
. If cover can be arranged, no penalty will be applied.
. If no cover can be arranged, any fines or financial losses imposed by the customer will be passed on to you. The penalty amount will be deducted from your earnings or invoiced directly to you.
. Repeated Failed Service incidents or failure to settle penalties may result in account termination and removal from the platform.

7. Payment Terms

. Payment for completed jobs will be made fortnightly, after the successful completion of each job unless stated otherwise.
. As a self-employed courier, you will receive payment based on the terms set for each job, after the job is completed.

8. Job Requirements

. As an independent contractor, it is your responsibility to ensure you have the necessary equipment, insurance, and qualifications to perform the job.
. This includes having a valid driver’s license, appropriate vehicle, and relevant insurance to carry out deliveries or services.

9. Training and Support

. Full training will be provided for each job where necessary. As a self-employed courier, you are expected to complete any required training to ensure job performance.
. Support will be available if needed, but you remain responsible for managing your shifts and tasks.

10. Health and Safety

. As an independent contractor, you are responsible for following all health and safety guidelines during the performance of your job.
. This includes following traffic laws, maintaining safe practices when loading and unloading, and ensuring all equipment is used safely.

11. Self-Billing Invoicing

. By accepting and applying for a job, you agree to use self-billing invoicing.

12. Non-Compete and Confidentiality

. Confidentiality: You agree not to disclose any confidential information, data, or customer details you encounter during your work through TheCourier.app. This includes, but is not limited to, operational details, pricing, customer lists, and other sensitive information.

. No-shows (Failed Service) may result in penalties, including covering the cost of an agency courier or alternative service provider.
. Repeated no-shows may lead to removal from the platform.
. You should regularly check your app for any updates or changes to your schedule.

14. Cover for Your Job, Schedule & Emergencies

. Notification Requirement: If you are unable to work a scheduled job, you must inform us as soon as possible so we can attempt to find a replacement.
. Failed Service & Financial Penalties: If no cover can be arranged and you fail to attend your scheduled job, this will be treated as Failed Service. You may be liable for financial penalties, including the cost of an agency courier or alternative service provider, as outlined in Section 6 (Cancellation Policy).
. Repeated Failure to Attend: Multiple instances of Failed Service may result in account suspension or permanent removal from the platform.

By accepting jobs via TheCourier.app, you acknowledge that securing cover when unavailable is ultimately your responsibility, and failure to do so may result in financial penalties.

15. Dispute Resolution

.Any disputes related to job acceptance, performance, or payments will be resolved through the in app support function. We strive to ensure fair resolution for all parties involved.
